Finding a rooftop spot in San Francisco can feel like a mini-adventure. Why? Because every place claims to have the best drinks, food, and, naturally, the best view. So, how do you pick? For me, it was simple: I went with the name—The View Lounge. I mean, it doesn’t get more straightforward than that, right? I was looking for a view, and they promised just that.
Perched high above San Francisco, this Art Deco-inspired rooftop bar and restaurant boasts stunning views of downtown. Known for its handcrafted cocktails and shareable dishes, it’s a popular spot for both tourists and locals seeking a memorable atmosphere.

The lounge is tucked inside the San Francisco Marriott Marquis hotel, which, by the way, has a welcoming vibe right from the start. The staff were super friendly and made sure we got to the correct elevator and floor without a hitch. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with jaw-dropping views through floor-to-ceiling windows and a design that was sleek yet inviting. The space is well thought out, with lounges, high-top tables, regular seating, and, of course, bar stools for those of us who enjoy the front-row bar experience.
Now, as a bartender, I have to say I was impressed with their drink selection. The menu had enough variety to please just about anyone, from classic cocktail lovers to those looking for something a little more creative. I grabbed a couple of cocktails (for research purposes, of course) and found myself sinking into one of the cozy lounge sofas.
The atmosphere struck a nice balance between lively and laid-back. The modern design felt welcoming, and while most people stuck to their own groups, the seating setup definitely encourages mingling—just not on the night I visited. Still, it’s the kind of place where you can easily imagine striking up a conversation with fellow cocktail enthusiasts on a busier evening.
